There’s No Place Like Home
Posted on December 15, 2018
This weekend Jaclyn and I are in my hometown Rantoul, Illinois to spend time with my parents before Christmas. (We will not be discussing how I have to work on Christmas, because every time the topic comes up in conversation, my Mom gets very upset.)
However, before we made it home, we stopped in Mattoon so we could watch Spiderman: Into the Spider-verse with my best friend Ryne! We also went to Steak n’ Shake like we used to when I lived at home! Friday I took Jaclyn to Buckley, where I went to school from kindergarten to 12th grade. We visited my high school and I got to tell all of the students what I’m doing with my life. They were obviously very impressed (as impressed as teenagers can be, which isn’t very..I’ll take whatever I can get.)Buckley is one of my favorite places. It feels much more like home than Rantoul does, and there is a 100% chance of seeing someone I love when I visit. It may be small, but how pretty is the church?? And I love the brick roads.Friday night my Mom made us broccoli cheese soup and chocolate cake. We watched Space Jam (which is me and my Dad’s fave,) and finished the night with Marvelous Mrs. Maisel!
Saturday I updated my iPhone 7 to the iPhone XR! Merry Christmas to me. I am psyched to take better pictures, so prepare for some high quality pics. Then we went to the mall to eat Giordano’s (one of my favorites!) Giordano’s is very conveniently placed inside the mall, so while waiting for our pizza we went to Old Navy and I got new pajamas. They have penguins wearing sweaters on them. I am wearing them right now, and I am very cozy.
After Giordano’s we went to the movies and saw Instant Family. That movie is a gem, and I highly recommend it.
Now I am sitting in my living room, watching the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and doing face masks with one of my oldest friends, Rachel, and Jaclyn.
It has been a beautiful time, and I am sad to have to leave tomorrow…but I’ll be back in a week and a half 😊
